Facts about Hydrocephalus I found on a website that I found on Google

Fact One: Hydrocephalus is one of the most common birth defects, each year one out of every 500 births results in hydrocephalus

Fact Two: Another 6,000 children annually develop hydrocephalus during the first 2 years of life

Fact Three: Brain injury occurs every 15 seconds in this country - and in some cases leads to the development of hydrocephalus

Fact Four: There are approximately 75,000 discharges a year from hospitals in the U.S. with a diagnosis of hydrocephalus

Fact Five: More than 50% of hydrocephalus cases are congenital

Fact Six: 70-90% of children born with spina bifida also develop hydrocephalus

Fact Seven: CSF shunting procedures account for approximately $100 million health care spending in the United States alone - half of this amount is spent on shunt revisions

Fact Eight: In the past 25+ years, death rates associated with hydrocephalus have decreased from 54% to 5%, and the occurrence of intellectual disability has decreased from 62% to 30%

Fact Nine: Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus affects adults and can cause dementia, difficulty in walking and, urinary incontinence

Fact Ten: No statistics are kept (by our government), for those who develop

So you see these are just some facts I found Google from a website about it but that doesn't mean we should forget others who are like me that have this because we are important too and we also matter, just like anyone else who might be going through something different. A lot of people don't know about Hydrocephalus, but they should and I think we should be the ones to let them know about it. Hydrocephalus Matters and I along with others like me do too. I hope that as you read this, then maybe you'll want to learn more about it, and maybe do your own research to figure out what it is.
